All things western are gaining in popularity, even if you don't own an
American Quarter Horse, make 2008 the year that you join us and join in
the fun! You don't even need your own Quarter Horse to be part of
it.....
To be suitable for western riding a horse must have a quiet reliable
temperament. It must be able to react immediately and responsively to
it's riders instructions. Any horse possessing these qualities will
respond positively to western riding techniques.
Around the world many breeds are extensively trained and used in the
western style. However, if there is one breed of horse to be classified
as the most popular then it is the American Quarter Horse .
Nowadays the Quarter Horse is proving its versatility once again as a
sports and pleasure horse. The pure and part bred Quarter Horses can be found competing
successfully in every equestrian discipline from show jumping, through
dressage and polo, to all of the western disciplines including Reining,
recently recognised as an international discipline.
Even if you don't own an American Quarter Horse, and many of our
members don't; you can be part of the Quarter Horse family by joining
the AQHA.UK. This association is the only association in the UK affiliated to the American Parent Association the AQHA and offers a whole host of benefits , including our popular quarterly magazine "AQHA.UK Journal " .
If you are into Showing or spectating at the increasing number of AQHA Authorised shows, then this website offers results , and schedules of the majority of AQHA Shows. The AQHA.UK itself organises ONE AQHA show during the year, the prestigious AQHA UK Nationals that incorporates the Rambo Quarter Horse Championships and Blue Profile Futurities .
If showing isn't what you are interested in, our highly successful Leisure Riding Programme organises frequent leisure rides and also western holidays both in the UK and overseas and don't forget the AQHA.UK Annual Weekend in the Woods held in Thetford Forest.
Don't forget that all the latest news is listed at the top of the website under the "What's New" section and the diary dates are in the Whats Happening (Diary) section (don't forget to give us your dates so we can add to the diary).
Become part of the AQHA.UK family, you'll not regret it.
