Jays Offspring Celebrate Rookie Award for Second Year In A Row!
We're delighted to congratulate Lee Mitchell and Stop That Jay for winning the AQHA Rookie of the year award in 2010.   Cruise who was bred here at SQH out of one of our Snippers Heirogance daughters by Jays Smokin Story became the second Jay's Smokin Story offspring in a row to win this award by showing just in Halter!

In 2009, Ruth O'Reilly with Poppet Smoked A Jay won the same award.

This award is given to the AQHA competitor who earns the most points in their first year of showing in Amateur AQHA events.

Interestingly, all through the season in 2010 Lee and Cruise were neck and neck in the standings with another Sovereign bred horse, Joyce Markham's Heir To A Cady.  They actually ended up with the same points after the last show calculations, but Lee and Cruise won the buckle on the tie break.  Congratulations to Joyce and Davina for a great first year showing as well.

We're very proud that the horses we breed are still proving to be the best horses for new amateurs in their first season showing in the UK.  We've always said Snipper and Jay are great sires... and here's the proof!

Lee will be awarded his AQHA Rookie Of The Year Belt Buckle at the AQHA UK Awards evening on Saturday 30th April here at Horse Creek Farm during the AQHA UK Spring Show.  For more info about the AQHA and AQHA UK Awards go to the AQHA UK website here.

Trail Rider Saddlebags
We've been having great fun ordering new stock for the SQH Western Tack Shop.
Our Secretary Lindsay is particularly excited about some saddlebags we've got in
stock - she's been measuring them up and calculating how many bars of chocolates
and bags of carrots she can get in them when she goes out trail riding, obviously the
calculations are acceptable, as she's looking quite happy about it.  We thought'd we'd
best mention to all of you that we've got these items in stock before she buys them
and fills them up with supplies for when she goes out hacking!

Front Saddle Bag

Both the front and rear saddle bags feature reinforced seams to provide

strength and zippered tops to keep the bags securely closed. The straps

and riggings are detachable and changeable for the perfect fit on any saddle.

The bags are made of closed-cell, limestone-based neoprene, which means it

won’t crack or crumble, has all-way stretch, is easy to maintain, insulates hot

or cold, won’t sweat or leak, and always returns to its original shape even

after thousands of uses. Best of all, it keeps drinks ice cold for hours!

They’re also made to be used with either ice or freezer packs.

The Front Saddle Bags are perfect for an all-day ride.  With two bags that fit
over the saddle horn, each with a detachable strap, this is very convenient
and easy to reach at any time.  Plus, because each bag is the perfect size
to hold three cans of your favorite beverage, you can use one for cold items
and one for hot, or one for supplies and the other for food.
The possibilities are endless.
