David Deptford
David Deptford
David has been riding Western since he was 8 years old. He is recognised as a leading UK breeder and trainer of Quarter Horses.  With wins in the show pen too numerous to mention, he has been a member of the British Reining Team on many occasions, most recently in 2008 where we was the trail blazer for the team that narrowly missed out on a bronze medal at the first ever World Reining Championships.  Rest assured, he doesn't specialise in any one event, having competed both in the UK and overseas with halter horses, western pleasure and all around horses.

Sarah Deptford
Sarah Deptford
Sarah has a lifelong association with horses and has helped develop the Sovereign brand. Sarah is a well known face on the show circuit, with horses produced by her winning numerous Grand Championships at Halter.   Sarah is also a very successful rider, having grown up showing English show ponies, she switched from English to Western when she met David.  With competition experience both in the UK and overseas, she had a phenomenal year in 2008 and 2009, competing at the highest level in Western reining, as well as keeping her hand in showing Hunter under Saddle and Trail.  She's a true all around competitor and an inspiring teacher.

Patrick Hopgood grew up on a 2000 acre cattle property in Australia where horses are not just a hobby, but a way of life. They are used in everyday tasks from rounding up cattle to checking fences where cars can not go. He started riding before he could walk and has not looked back. After 20 years of competing in a variety of horse sports he decided to try his hand at reining and headed to America to learn from some of the best trainers in the world. He was lucky enough to spend a few years in America working for, Ron Ralls, Philip Ralls, Monty Roberts and Glen Aspinal. He also had the pleasure to ride with Bob Avila, Corey Cushing and Robbie Schroeder. Due to America’s financial crises the visa’s were tough to get so Patrick moved to England with his British fiancé Nikki and is enjoying working here with us at Sovereign Quarter Horses sharing his experience and knowledge.
