NRHA, AQHA, WES, What The Heck?! |
A: These are all different associations.
The NRHA is the National Reining Horse Association, it is not a breed registry, more a organiser and central point of the Reining event. Horses that compete in NRHA classes do not have to be American Quarter Horses, they can be any breed.
The AQHA is the American Quarter Horse Association, the largest breed registry in the world with over 4 million Quarter Horses registered. Once you are a member of the AQHA you can log into their website and check out all manner of things, include competition records of any registered horse. AQHA Shows throughout the World are run under the AQHA rules, and all points earned are shown on the horses record. All rules are exactly the same world wide.
WES: Western Equestrian Society, a British based western society which is open to all breeds of horses shown in western tack, rather than just Quarter Horses. Shows and clinics are held throughout the year, with points earning year end awards.
