Halter Prep Clinic 31st March 2007 |
We held our first Halter Preparation Clinic on 31st March 2007. This clinic was aimed at people with young horses, or who had never shown before and was aimed at giving everyone an idea of how to present their horse for the halter show pen, and also what to expect when in the show pen.
Everyone was split up into two groups. One group initially went into
the Arena with David and worked on what would happen in the class, and
how to show their horse to its best advantage, using a demonstration
horse as an example in the first instance. The other group worked with
Sarah on the Preparation side of the class. How to trim, band, apply
make up (to the horse, not just the owner)! Everyone had a chance to
band, and clip with Luke and Snipper being patient guinea pigs. After
lunch, everyone swopped over, and the day finished with a mock class
where everyone put what they had learnt into practice. Everyone had a
great day, and you could see the horses learning so quickly what was
expected of them. In the main, this was the first time a lot of the
youngsters had been in an arena with other horses and there were a few
large eyes out on stalks at the beginning of the day, but come the Mock
class, they were all very relaxed and getting into the swing of things.
Below are some pictures of the day.
