Hectic Times

The week before our Open Day on Sunday 15th April, we were blessed with great weather - but would it hold for the weekend?  That week preceding the Open Day was frantic for the whole Sovereign Team and we were so lucky with the weather and the long light evenings as everyone worked very hard to get everything sorted out - there's a saying, "There's never enough hours in the day" and it felt like that for the whole of that week!

Many clients, old and new offered their help and we're really like to thank them all for their support and assistance during the run up to the Open Day and on the day itself.

Our great friend, and mentor, Pete Bowling,   who was going to speak at the Open Day whilst we rode and showed the horses, arrived late on Saturday evening, having ridden a horse at San Francisco Cow Palace and then left the horse and jumped on a plane.  You would have never realised just how jet lagged he was on the Sunday as he talked Pedigrees, and amazed and entertained everyone with his huge knowledge of the breeding of the Quarter Horse.  This is just stuff he knows, stuff he remembers, and he is the font of all Quarter Horse Pedigree knowledge! This is why we've always taken his advice when setting up our long term breeding programme and why we're always planning towards the future, with our Horses.

The Open Day
We were overwhelmed by the vast crowds of people who started arriving just after 10am, as advertised.  When you do something like this, there is always the worry that no one will turn up!  At one point someone came through and announced they had counted the cars outside and there were 120 cars, and they just kept coming!

It was wonderful to see faces of clients old and new,  some of whom had travelled great distances to see us. It was also wonderful to see a lot of completely new faces who had come to have their first look at the Quarter Horse, and our Stallions and their offspring.

Without fail, all the horses showed just how great and steady they are, and we were proud to be able to show them to everyone to prove just what nice horses they are.  Even the youngsters who hadn't had a lot of experience under saddle, came into the arena, faced all those people and did us proud.

We had a lot of very nice, positive comments about our stallions, and their offspring, and to us, although the whole day was incredibly hard work, this is what it is for, promoting the breed, our Stallions, their offspring and showing and proving that our breeding programme really works.  We feel we produce and train very nice horses that can do anything.  The show ring results prove it, and the people who have our horses as "family friends" to ride out on also prove it and our horses do both!

Thank You!

We'd just like to say "Thank You" to all of you who attended for helping make the day such a success and we hope you enjoyed yourselves.

We'd also like to say a huge "Thank You" to Pete Bowling for his all help on the day and his help, guidance and encouragement over the many years that we have known him and especially for sourcing such great horses for us.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.
