SQH & The Helpful Horse Group
Helpful Horse Group
The Helpful Horse Group
was set up a few years ago with the aim of helping people who have suffered mental ill-health to move further along the road to recovery.  They use the deep empathy of horses to empower people, to give them respite from their problems, and to guide them into positive ways of thinking.  Every week they meet to do something with horses; grooming, riding, ploughing, observing, and always learning.
On 27th November members of the Helpful Horse Group, organised by Golda Conneely visited SQH.  Golda comments "Of course our aim is to have fun, so when we found Sovereign Quarter Horses we were excited by the prospect of trying a new skill.  Although it is 150 mile round journey, (we are based near Norwich), five of us made it to SQH on the 27th November.  We were made welcome and felt very much at home.  Meeting the horses was very relaxed, and two of the group were in the saddle in no time.  We were awe-struck by the horses, and appreciated the kindness of the instruction.  Everyone had a ride, the smiles were enormous, and now we all want a quarter horse of our own.

Because of David, Sarah, Lindsay, Hobby and Snowy we had a brilliant time; everyone was on cloud nine, and will be talking about it for ever (- or 'til the next visit).  It did everyone so much good - thank you."

Golda, we loved having you all, (plus it meant we got the nice biscuits out!)
