This show was the decider for the two SQH Winter Championship Trophies, with points earned over the two shows being taken into consideration.
The Youth Winter Hi Point Champion for 2008/09 was Zoe Walkerdine with Sons Smart Chic. Zoe won the award by 5 points with Avril Wilson and Story of Smoke as reserve champion. The Adult Winter Hi Point Champion for 2008/09 went to Sue Boyden and Award Me A Hobby, who showed very consistently throughout both shows, always with a smiling face. In reserve champion position, was Cheryl Hewson with Absolutely Addicting. Again the winning margin wasn't large with just 4 points between the top two. Pictured above are Sue and Zoe (L-R) receiving their championship rosettes and trophies from David and Sarah Deptford. As these shows are a chance for people with young horses or who have never shown before as well as a opportunity for those with the more mature horse to start working towards their ambitions for the year, both our Walk Jog Classes and Amateur classes were very well supported. As these days are informal, relaxed and are about having fun, we ALWAYS split classes to make the showing experience a good one for both horse and riders. Carol and Brittanny Winfrow arrived at the show weighed down with Chocolates, and the competitors were thrilled to win along with their rosettes boxes of Maltesers and Snickers bars. Our grateful thanks to Carol and Brittanny who support the shows as our official "Chocolate fairies". Dapper Judge Mr David Deptford, who remember is banned from the commentary box after his impromtu Kareoke singing at the first SQH show last August, commented after the show that it had been a pleasure to Judge the horses and riders and it was great to see so many improving combinations. David's scribe for the day was the stylish Sarah Deptford. There's a wonderful new voice at the SQH shows, Camilla Calverley-Halford handles the pressure of commentating with her usual aplomb, and looks as great as she sounds. As always, we are very grateful to all who help on the day and Sally Payne did a great job in the morning getting all competitors through the gate, and our grateful thanks to Paul and Liz Freman for taking over in the afternoon. We were also fortunate to have AQHA UK official Photographer Nathan Haynes on site during the day, and he will be uploading photos from the day onto his website http://www.nrhphotography.co.uk Important News As you may have seen, we're gearing up for another series of SQH TX Challenge Shows in 2009, the highpoint winner will win a weeks holiday to the TX Ranch in Montana.
