David Deptford
Your Instructors
David Deptford has been teaching all levels of riders for many years and is unfailingly patient and knowledgeable. He is foremost an educator, of both you and your horse, whether you are new to riding and want to learn the basics for a Ranch Holiday, or with a view to eventually having your own horse.

If you are more experienced and hoping to show your horse, or even add new skills, he will tailor your lessons to your own aims and ambitions.

David's pupils over the years have excelled in western competitions, such as Reining, Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Halter and showmanship as well as English events such as Dressage. They even excel in just enjoying their horses. All of which are important.

Sarah Deptford is an accomplished horsewoman in her own right, having grown up showing ponies, working at a well known show pony yard.  Having converted to western riding when she met David, Sarah is ideally placed to help make the transistion from "English".  Sarah has produced and shown horses both in the UK and overseas in all events with considerable success.

TESTIMONIALS

lewisecshow2_2007 Hollie Wright and Jays Hotshot Story

"Following too many riding tumbles, and “heart in the mouth moments” over my 20 year “English style” riding career I had hung up my riding hat for good……….. until I met Gunner.  Gunner was my first experience of an American quarter horse.  David, of Sovereign Quarter Horses gently took Gunner through his paces, at this stage I was just a passenger, but I was wowed with the ride. David patiently taught me over the next few months how to “spin” and then to “stop”, each of these movements take only the slightest move from the rider, it really was breathtaking.

A year on and I am now the proud owner of Jays Hotshot Story (Lewis to his mates) a stunning sorrel gelding bred by Sovereign Quarter horses.  We recently enjoyed our first AQHA event where Lewis won best aged gelding amongst other placings.  The whole “Sovereign experience” from first ride to quarter horse ownership has been a complete pleasure".
