Sue Boyden & Award Me A Hobby TX Challenge Champions for 2009
tx 2009 winner
txranch

The third show in the 2009 SQH TX Challenge held on Sunday 11th October proved yet another great success.  Sue Boyden with Award Me A Hobby won the weeks holiday to the famous TX Ranch on the Wyoming/Montana border in the USA.  The same ranch where Jamie Oliver filmed his recent episode of "Jamie's American Road Trip".
30 horses competed under Judge David Deptford on the 11th October, it was great to see TX Regulars come back, but also some new faces.  ALL classes had prizes to 3rd place, and in some cases 4th, and ALL entrants received a rosette or award at this popular show.  We'd like to thank our generous sponsors, Westernscene, Don from the Western Boots and Saddles Company  the Evans Family and of course the fabulous TX Ranch in the USA

With good entries in all classes, the trail classes in particular proved very popular. The Westernscene Trail Challenge a pick your own line trail competition, against the clock proved very exciting to watch, with the Queen of Speed, Karen Shaw and Maverick hurtling around the course to win the class, a digital photo frame, huge bunch of flowers and her Westernscene marble trophy (all entrants receive a trophy).  As these shows are a way of getting horses and riders used to the show environment, horses may be led around the Trail Challenge course and special mention should be given to Emily Evans who led Sir William around the course and sprinted around to pick up a third place out of 14 entries.

In the barrel racing, Lucy Adams, threw aside her pleasure lope, and hurtled to a first place on her full bred Criolla, Luna.

The last class on the day turned out to be quite nailbiting, if only from the point of view of the Show Secretary who was working out the multiple high point awards.  With the Combined Youth High Point (over the three shows) being decided on this class.  If Hetty West on Snippers Della Reed was placed 4th or above, she would win the Combined Youth High Point.  The last entry of the day, Della Reed gave a good performance, and won Hetty 3rd place, and the Combined Youth High Point Trophy.

The Youth riders were a force to be reackoned with.  Avril Wilson with Story of Smoke, won the Youth High Point for Show 3.

The Combined Youth High Point Award, for shows 1, 2 and 3 went to Hetty West on Snippers Della Reed with, Avril Wilson in Second Place and Claire Evans and Sir William in Third place.

The Adult High Point Award for Show 3 went to Sandra Groome with Montana Minstrel.

The Combined Adult High Point Award for shows 1, 2 and 3 went to Sue Boyden with Award Me A Hobby, Sandra Groome's great results at this show moved her into 2nd place, and Cheryl Hewson with Absolutely Addicting won the third place.

Our next SQH Show is our Christmas Show on Sunday 13th December, again, lots of prizes, hopefully lots of tinsel, and keep checking back for the schedule and patterns that will be available online.
