Xmas Show Report
Have you seen Santa Claus yet?  Here at Horse Creek Farm, we've seen a whole family of Santas, along with horses disguised as reindeer and more tinsel than you can shake a stick at.   Horse Creek Farm on 13th December was in serious festive mode with the annual Christmas Show.

Around 30 horses, complete with their bedazzled and betinsel decked riders competed in 9 classes, including the popular Walk Jog classes under the eagle eye of Judge Sarah Deptford.  Photographer Nathan Haynes from NRH Photography was on site to capture the festivities, and also to meet ANOTHER Nathan Haynes who was competing on his WPPA pony Toby Tuesday.  Nathan Haynes (the Younger) posed for a photograph with Haynes (The Elder!).  You can view the photos of the show by clicking here

Festive Food Prizes - winners of all of the  classes were thrilled to receive a hand made and decorated christmas cake, supplied by Sandra Groom from Cake Creations.  There was the usual over indulgence of chocolate prizes as well as generous sponsorship from NRH Photography and Sandra Mitchell who sponsored a class in memory of her father.

Best Dressed Award
- Judge Sarah Deptford was in the hot seat, when choosing a winner for our Best Festive Dressed Award.  In the end, it came down to three people, Sue Boyden, as Santa Claus compete with beard... Theresa McCaffrey, as a mischievious elf and Gillian Sloan as a fantastic Santa complete with tinsel trousers!   Sarah Deptford commented "it was soooo hard to choose, but in the end I had to go for Sue Boyden, the sight of her with that beard in the showmanship class is just something I'll not forget - but they all looked amazing".  All three winners earned themselves a prize.

High Point Winners - as everyone knows, we love our high point awards.  We are lucky this year that the UK Paint Horse Association has also added a high point award for each show, and an overall winter league high point.   Sally Wright and Strait Smokin N Sweet  were the winners of the Show 1 High Point - winning some great prizes.

The SQH Adult High Point Award went to Mike Roberts on Cassie, with a good performance.   Cassie seemed to love the barrel racing, and we're renaming Mr Roberts - Velcro - after Cassie showed her enthusiasm!

The SQH Youth High Point Award went to Hetty West on Snippers Della Reed.  Special mention should go to Ellie O'Callaghan and Claire and Emily Evans for their consistent performance, and to the littlest competitors, Nathan Haynes and Toby Tuesday who entered their first ever walk jog trail class and were great.

It was great to see some new faces, as well as a lot of the "regulars".  These shows are for all breeds of horses who are ridden western, and it was great to see a whole variety of horses represented at the show.  Show Secretary Lindsay took a real shine to a gentle giant named "Mini Monster".

This show forms part of the SQH 2009/2010 Winter League - three shows...

13th December 2009
7th March
18th April 2010

There are four awards over the three shows.

Adult High Point, Youth High Point, Paint High Point and WPPA High Point.

We had a great time, and hope you all have a wonderful christmas and new year and look forward to seeing you back on the 7th March for show 2.
