SQH Challenge Show 2 August 2010
Adult High Point Winner Absolutely Addicting with Cheryl Hewson and Judge Alan Payne
15th August saw the second of our SQH Challenge Summer Series Shows.  Over 40 horses attended to compete in a wide range of classes for all breeds of horses, and all abilities judged by Alan Payne, ably assisted by his wife Sally as ring steward.  David was let loose with the microphone (which is not always a good idea) before the wonderful Camilla Calverley-Halford wrestled the microphone from Mr Deptford and proceeded to announce the classes with great aplomb.

As usual, these shows are proving very popular, with good entries in all classes.  25 entered the Walk Jog Trail class and as they all lined up for the prize giving, competitors gave the numerous spectactors a mexican wave!

All class winners took home a winners flowers, as well as prizes, and in most classes there were prizes down to at least 6th place.

The youngest competitor of the day Ellie Taylor on her pony Hollie along with Mum Charlene sped around the Westernscene Trail Challenge course and won the class.  Mum Charlene then did it all again with Ellie's brother Charlie and Hollie, and was 2nd.  We're very impressed with Charlene's fleet turn of foot!

Competitors coming in to the Show Office at Lunch time were transfixed by the Sovereign Hair Saloon.   Competitor Jacqui Phillips taking a break from a good show with Poppy Te Heir took time to try and tame Show Secretary Lindsay Doel's hair by giving her a hair cut.  How's that for multi tasking!

We'd like to thank Jennifer Sheerin from AQHA UK for providing goodie bags as prizes, presented to some winners of classes and also a special prize for youth competitor Paige Wiles.

We'd also like to thank the Evans Family for supplying some wonderful prizes to be handed out to winners.  Daughter Claire, who won the Youth High Point at the May show with Sir William had a good win in the Barrel Racing and took home a huge bunch of flowers.

These shows are great family fun, and it was nice to see so many spectactors who came to watch.

Cheryl Hewson with Absolutely Addicting took home lots of prizes, including the coveted SQH High Point Rug, with Avril Wilson and Story of Smoke taking the Youth Award.  Lucy Adam's nice paint stallion Driftins White Choice won the UK PHA High Point Rosette.

In the overall summer High Point, Lucy is leading the Paint High Point, Vicky Easton on Smart Snippa Chic is in the lead for the Adult high point after some good results at the weekend.  Young Claire Evans on Sir William is leading the Youth High Point.

Our next show is October 16th, all the usual SQH classes PLUS AQHA Novice Amateur and Novice Youth Classes.  This show will be judged by Bob Mayhew with a clinic on Sunday 17th with Bob.  A unique opportunity to get feedback on your performance which we hope many people will attend.

There will be some great prizes on offer in October, so keep checking back for the schedule which is nearly finished.
